All students take part in a daily two-hour literacy block designed to build strong literacy skills for learning and communication. Lessons are aligned to the Victorian English curriculum and informed by ongoing assessment to meet students’ learning needs.

Our literacy block includes five key components: Daily Review, Explicit Skill Development, Application, Text Study, and Review and Reflection.

Foundation to Year 2

​

The junior literacy program is based on Little Learners Love Literacy, a structured approach to teaching phonics, reading, writing and spelling.

​

Students learn how sounds and letters work together to build words while developing skills in reading, spelling, handwriting, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension, giving them strong foundations for future learning.

Years 3 to 6

​

In Years 3 to 6, students continue to strengthen their literacy skills through explicit spelling and word study, alongside text studies that develop vocabulary, comprehension and a deeper understanding of how sentences and texts work.
